Scrappy Rides Again

Thanks to all of you for your thoughtful compliments on my Ariann sweater – you make a girl blush.  I’ll save my next post to all who are inquiring about my post-pregnancy weight loss program – I’ll just have you know the diet includes stale Apple Jacks and Pinot Grigio and may not be endorsed by the New England Journal of Medicine.

I apologize for not returning your comments and e-mails, I’ve got good reason.

See this guy (hat courtesy of Lynn and Rae):

Scrappy tells his nurses, “I’m BAAAACK!”.  Yup, little Scrapster is in the hospital…again.  He developed some reflux problems which graduated to projectile vomiting (I have the sweatshirt stains to prove it).  Seems Scrappy thought his VSD and heart surgery weren’t enough to keep us on our toes, so he went and got himself a little something called Pyloric Stenosis.  They admitted him last night, all prepped and wheeled down to surgery this morning and then the Docs came out to tell us that they did a scope and it either is still in the beginning stages or it is just really really bad reflux – they wheeled him back to his room and will observe him for the next couple of days to determine if surgery will be rescheduled.  So, hubster and I are once again doing the split rounds between hospital and home.  Harder this time, cause Mr. Bo Gangles isn’t the sleepy little preemie he once was during our last surgical go around with the Scrapinator – he looks like this now:

Does anyone else see a future politician trouble maker in the making?

  • i’m glad he didn’t need surgery and hopefully he won’t but dagnab it, back in the hospital again……………that sucks. keepin’ ya all in my thoughts!

  • Oh my god, they are just so darn cute. They get more and more adorable by the day. Hopefully things will not be too invasive. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  • My little bro had pyloric stenosis surgery as a wee preemie (along with lots of other problems). He’s now 33 and the father of his own 7 1/2 month old son. Hang in there and know that your little guy is tough!

  • I’m so sorry Scrappy is back in the hospital. :(

Gangles has the greatest facial expression. I LOVE that picture.

  • Oh mama……I’m sorry you can’t just catch a break can you!? You will all be in my thoughts….

  • Ohhhh, Scrappy! This isn’t part of the plan!

    Hope you (all) recover soon.

  • Scrappy and the entire family are in my thoughts. Hang in there!

  • I was smiling over your assessment of Mr. Bo Gangles as a troublemaking politician and my 15 year old came saw him and also totally agreed! My 13 year old son watchs a lot (I mean A LOT) of Dukes of Hazard and I keep thinking there’s something in the look that reminds my of Boss Hog! He’s a cutey.(not the Boss, the boy) And of course he’ll be a troublemaker, trust another mother of all boys–you wouldn’t want him any other way! On a serious note, my thoughts will be with you, my 14 year old has some mystery health stuff going on, not serious we’re told, but just the worrying alone can be exhausting, no matter how laid back or easy going you are.

  • Sorry to hear Scrappy is back in the hospital! I’ll be thinking of you guys. Take it easy.

  • DAMN! Those are the CUTIEST KIDS!!!
Wish I was closer by, I’d volunteer to babysit those little rascals!

Good luck with the whole hospital gig!

  • I’m sorry that Scrappy is back in hospital. Hopefully the surgery won’t be necessary at all. As for your other son, well, I’d say he’s got your number. Good luck with that. ;-)

  • Poor Scrapster! Hopefully some reflux meds get him back into fighting form.

Ohmigod, you are in so much trouble. That picture of Gangles?? That’s a kid who’s just making time, waiting until he can take over the world. He is SHOCKINGLY alert looking.

  • Hope everything works out with Scrappy and he’s home playing “tag team crying” with his brother soon.

Gangles looks like he’s busy planning his next “how can I rob my parents of more sleep” attempt.

    Hang in there.

  • Good luck. My fam and fur fam will be thinking of yours.

  • Oh shoot!! You have had enough!! My thoughts are with you all. The boys are just so cute!! I so wish I lived closer so I could help out with Mr. Bo Gangles!! Give Scrappy a hug! Glad no surgery!!

  • Hope Scrappy is feeling better soon!

Gangles looks like a trouble-maker. You’d better watch out

  • Love your blog!
All the males in my husband’s family have/had pyloric stenosis. They had operations like your little one and recovered well from it. His father (b. 1926) almost died from it whereas he and his brother (b. 1950s) had a routine operation–thank God for medical advancement!
Love the stale Apple Jacks/Pinor Grigio diet, I might have to try that!

  • gangles is saying, “i’m the good boy, huh, mommy, i will never give you that much trouble.” (cuz i’m cute and i’ll do it in a way you won’t find out!)

  • Get better, Scrapster! Gangles just isn’t going to get caught giving you trouble… his will be the sneaky sort. ;-)

  • ahh, poor scrapster ! i hope everything goes well. gangles facial expressions are so freaking great.

  • Dang that kid! An attention hog and only a few months old. Seriously though, I’m very sorry. I hope surgery isn’t required and if it is that he recovers quickly from it.

Let’s see presidential race of 2032?

  • Too damn cute. Bo Gangles for President 2043. I’ll say an extra prayer for Scrappy, and have an extra glass ‘o vino for you this evening!

  • I’m all for any diet that revolves around Pinot Grigio. Keep me posted!

My prayers are going out for Mr. Scrapster. I hope he makes it home very soon!!

  • Awww, good luck to the little guy. I’m voting it’s bad reflux. The little kid has already had his rounds of serious medical intervention. He shouldn’t need any more. Very funny poli photo =)

  • Aww! I hope everything works out well, and soon. That’s got to be so hard to deal with.

They’re just so darn cute, and Mr. Bo looks like he is trying to look innocent. Trying a little too hard maybe.

  • OMG … too cute!

Scrappy sure is keeping you (and all of us) on our toes … I’m glad he didn’t need surgery. Poor guy. Please keep us updated.

  • Scrappy may turn out to be the “problem”child-not Bo Gangles-He looks like butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth!! Glad Scrappy waited til after the retreat to practice for future fraternity days!! I know the surgery is common nowdays but still you worry–we are all thinking of you and hoping he is home safe now with brother planning their next adventure that puts grey in your hair(Bo, it’s your turn. No Scrappy, it’s your turn, etc.) and wine on your shopping list. Hope you can make it to Guild on Tuesday-bring one(or 2) if you need to -all of us will take a turn spoiling the cutie rotten. My Mom used to whisper things she thought my kids should do to me to “make up” for my past “perfect” childhood into their innocent little ears at that age.
I think it may have worked.
I carry on the tradition by telling my daughter “what goes around , comes around”. She is not amused-but then neither was I during some of her escapades. I am now.
Bo looks like your husband(well, in the pictures anyway).

  • I must say you have a beautiful pair of little boys! Congrats! Also, I love your knitting. Good luck with little Scrappy! :) I have a son of 11 months. I too find it obnoxious when people say “so when’s the little sister to arrive…” haha. I hope you have a moment to knit today – you sure deserve it!

  • Ok good thoughts are sent your way for a really quick hospital stay for Scrappy. Hope he’s home soon to keep an eye on his brother!

  • Just stopping by to check on Scrappy. I hope all of you are back home and doing well.

  • A friend of mine that I used to work with had a daughter with pyloric stenosis. That projectile vomit is pretty impressive. Gangles looks like he’s plotting and planning.

  • How is he doing now Kristie? I will keep praying for you guys.
    Heidi

  • Porr little Scrappers… he’s such a trooper though. :)

And oh my goodness that picture of Gangles… too freaking adorable.

I’m thinkin’ about you guys… mmmmWAH!

  • Get well soon Scrappy! We’re thinking of you!
