Chris sent me this link as if there could be something that hasn’t already happened in these parts. People, these boys are advanced - they skip the whole 911 experiment on the phone to utilizing hubby’s speed dial to direct connect to the Chief of Police and assorted precinct captains and then dialing the Lansing State Journal as well as all the key contacts for our local television news channels. I gotta admire their ability to remove the middle man at the ripe age of 18 months. Their timing is perfect with acheiving this milestone as it is just in time for hubby’s plans to get himself promoted – Oy! Buying kids play cell phones are beneath them – save your money, they have no interest. The same rule apply to palm pilots, laptops, cameras, and remote controls.
WWKIP day was a good time with blogfree Laura and Dirty Sue (who tanked herself on a large margarita and made goo-goo eyes with the waiter – CALIENTE!). However, she slept off her hangover at Threadbear and promptly taught me to crochet some ears for this:

It’s Harry Elefante and he was well received, but not as much as this (Sue in her predrunken status mentored me on the binding and Leanne even gave me a quick tutorial when I popped in to see if being a mother of twins gets easier – BTW, the answer is no):

There is significance to this quilt. The middle adventure helicopter t-shirt was purchased at U of M hospital when my dad was flown via aeromed helicopter. The outside smaller squares are from preemie and newborn outfits. The inside rows are from 6-12 months. The other larger panels are from 12-18 months. Of course there had to be a MSU Spartan head in there somewhere. Lifeguard square is the t-shirt from their first swim class. I’m still working on the second quilt. It’s amazing when I look at the outfits, I can remember them wearing them and where we were and what they were like at that age – somedays it doesn’t seem like it, but we’ve come a long way .
CRAP – where is my phone????

Love the elephant!
That’s funny … My kids (knock on wood) have never tried to call 911.

Sounds like what two boys can achieve. lol
Wish I could see you all. I’ll be in Charlotte Saturday night judging a rabbit show. Sigh. I miss my MI knitters.

Your endless creativity blows my mind. I love the “former outfits” quilt, what a special way to carry forward memories for the boys. Nice job!

Don’t fret (about the 911 call) lots of kids do that, although it’s probably less embarrassing if their father is not a cop. The quilt is wonderful – what a great idea for the baby clothes – and I bet it’s very soft, too.

Great elephant, but that quilt is FANTASTIC!

And we all thought speed dial was a good thing???
Had a great time Sat thanks for including me.
The elephant I really cannot see if it has 4 legs. Did he grow another after Sat? I was worried as you know. My quilt’s material has yet to make the trip to the washer – I just love the pressure of a deadline!! I should have been a State Journal Reporter and then I would have been one of the lucky ones to get a call from the boys : )
