Donegal, my lovely green laptop, that replaced my former laptop which also had a halted demise way before a full lifespan (and never obtained a name, it was that short) which replaced a former laptop that I ran over..
twice
has met the wrath of toddler who felt it necessary to throw you with its ac power cord attached and rip your motherboard to another motherland. RIP. Note to self…buy extended warranty service plan.
My response to said toddler resulted in threats of military school, looking up minimum age requirements for military school, and do you have to be completely potty trained as a criteria for admittance.
But, the $500 plus incident done spuntailed me out of my knitter design block funk. I am swatching for what will be titled “If you don’t %$#@ stop throwing that, you are going to military school” military knit cardigan. And for the record, dear knit pockets, you don’t scare me…
maybe just a little.
The summer has been filled with my 20th reunion in which I was able to catch up with an old friend.

work, day trips,

a first date for the boys that Gangles appeared to enjoy,

and what I have deemed “the year of the hat”.

and my newest free pattern – Hollandpeno
.
I also completed something I’ve been wanting to do for awhile – a triathlon. I kicked butt on swimming and running but riding a 20 year old moutain bike and being passed by an 80 year old is a bit daunting. I’ll be bike shopping this winter because I’m hooked.

Did some toddler sock knitting per requests,

and a contribution to the Mid-Michigan Guild’s annual preemie knitting drive in memory of Elija:

Ms. Amby also graced me with her presence and to bitch slap my serger – which made an awesome large box bag and we may have also shown a wine bottle(s) who was boss.
My mom is scheduled for quadruple bypass surgery on Friday so worry knitting a la military cardigan will commence.
And to the reader (s?) who are out there, thanks for tuning in.

How fast did we tank that jumbo bottle o’ wine? Half an hour? I don’t know it all got blurry after the margaritas.
You keep rockin’ the triathlons…do they have any over on this side of the state? I’ll come cheer!

You update; I’ll tune in. Congrats on the triathlon…I’m not inspired to kick my own butt, but I am awed.

The boys are getting so big (and are so adorable!) WTG on the triathlon. What an accomplishment! Prayers being said for a speedy recovery for your mom.

I just read your post outloud to my room mate. She laughed, then she cried, then she laughed again.

Dang, how do you look SOOOOO good and tell such amazing stories about such intense things? I’m not as good as you… I’m not even a mom.
So much news in one post. Dontcha hate shopping for computers? I have only bought one I really liked, and two I didn’t like at all. Brian shops better than me, he finds things I like, go figure.
Sending all the good vibes for your Mom’s surgery. Remember, this is routine for the doctor and this is VERY. GOOD. No medical routine is ever routine for the patient… but I find it reassuring to know doctors do this amazing stuff every day.
Hang in there. Knit like the wind!

Ok, it’s early it took me a while to figure out why the boys’ sign didn’t read “Our Mom is Number 1.” Ha ha!

Keeping your Mom in my thoughts and prayers — Lynn H is right, the docs do this everyday. You, my dear, are totally awesome — a triathalon? And, like Sharon, I am not inspired to kick my own butt, but let us know if you do another one and we can cheer you on! Just placed my first foster Westie yesterday and Ms. Cookie is in a funk that only squirrels can cure. Keep posting — Jean and Cookie

Welcome back! I missed you this summer, however, it looks like your time away from the blog was spent in the BEST way possible!

Oh, that Gangles, he is quite the ladies’ man!
September 20, 2009 at 2:04 pm
So nice to hear from you!!
I love the pic of Gangles….oh, those girls are going to have to beat him off with a stick!
The boys look like little boys and not babies! How time flies!
Good thoughts to your mom!

Oh yeah, we’re still here. You hooked us with the toddler adventures. And you thought it was tough with two infants!

I was sooooo happy to see Red dog in knits again! That face!
Of course the kids are cute too, but come on a dog in a hat…..steals my hearts. Since my own dogs will hve nothing of that. Abner used to oblige until Django entered his life. now there is no dignity in it.
Interested to see the miltary cardigan. maybe you could make it with ties for the arms, kinda like a straight jacket
Congrats on finishing the triathalon! The running would kill me. Biking I’m all for, we did 50 miles on Saturdy, but running my heart would give out.
